5th TAGCOM 2011

 

TAGCOM is on it’s fifth event, I can still remember attending the previous “The Gathering” events. Toys and Hobbies Convention. I’m not sure what is the theme of the first day, but the second day was the K-Pop event thingy with a dance competition.



the event is also packed with booths selling toys and stuff

at the back of the stage, we found this, an RC Drift race, we were amazed how those cars drift like pro, it was fun watching the cars that Kean was tempted to buy one. stock car cost like 10,000Php.

Metro Comic Convention 2011

Metro Comic Convention is a gathering of Filipino comic book artist and graphic novels. Cosplays, animation, manga, toys and figurines, and movies are also showcased in the said event. It is a 2 day event that aims to let Pinoy fans come and meet our Filipino artist.

The event was held on May 7 – 8, 2011at the Mega Trade Hall at SM Megamall. I had the chance to attend the first day only, and my team mates where present also on the second day.

Lot’s of booths of comic artist where scattered around the place, I heard also that there will be a free comic for attendies but I don’t know how to get one or if it’s still applicable.

on the 2nd day, more cosplayers attended the event, I just wished I have attended also.

aside from Chevrolet, Kaspersky also invaded the event, joining them are two Spongebobs cosplaying as a Kaspersky box.

Kristel Lim and Jen Hime are some of the famous cosplayers who attended the second day. although Kristel is not in her costume, still popular though.

Although the event’s main purpose is to showcase the Comic and graphic novels, I myself just want to have fun and play on the event with my friends.

next MCC I’ll buy a comic for sure, although I’m not sure what kind of novel it will be. David Lloyd, the creator of V for Vendetta was also present as a guess although we didn’t see him in action, maybe when we are takning our break. that maybe the reason why the entrance fee became 120Ph instead of the usual 100Php.

overall the event was fun, hope to see more from MCC.

Hatsune Miku drives the New 2011 Toyota Corolla

Two days ago, Toyota released a video of their 2011 Toyota Corolla and their new endorser, Hatsune Miku.

It seems that the Vocaloid Fever just reached the shores of USA, well I’m not sure about that. Toyota USA had Hatsune Miku as their endorser. but what are they thinking? are the American residents aware of Miku’s presence? or do they know who she is? you have to be an anime fan or pretty much involved in the anime scene to know her.

I guess the company targets the younger generation for this ad, but it seems there aren’t that much Hatsune Miku fans in America as I know. and if this commercial is aired on US TV, many would be confused of who she is. but with internet being used world wide and Miku’s picture is appearing almost everywhere, the average Americans watching it would be like “hey who was that girl on the Toyota?” and they would actually search it on the net and I think that’s how the company sees it.

here is their FB page Toyota USA and the official site Corollamiku and as you would notice Miku’s face is very different, they pretty much Americanized her to cater their target customers but I’m not happy with that. also on the facebook page, you will notice the “Who is Miku Hatsune?” thingy on the bottom that explains only a few really know her on the state side.

now that the 2011 Toyota Corolla is Hatsune Miku’s official car, I’m an anime fan and a car guy so I really wish that the color palette would be like her outfit. then calling it Corolla Hatsune would be nice.
