After yesterday’s Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate.. I mean Catherine Middleton, I was curious about the couple’s family tree.. the Royal Family Tree, so I made my own research and stuff and compiled it here.

The current Royal House or Royal Dynasty of the United Kingdom is the House of Windsor, founded by King George V. It was known before as House of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha and is a German Dynasty. Due to anti-German sentiment in the United Kingdom during World War I, King George V change the name of his branch from Saxe-Coburg and Gotha to Windsor.

edward viiithe Dominions of the British Commonwealth, and Emperor of India, from 20 January to 11 December 1936. Edward was styled His Highness Prince Edward of York at birth and was titled Duke of Cornwall and Rothesay and Prince of Wales before his ascension to throne. Reigning for 325 days, Edward is one of the shortest reigning monarchs in British and Commonwealth history, He was never crowned. The reason for this is that he caused a constitutional crisis by proposing to an American socialite Wallis Simpson (Bessie Wallis Warfield, later Spencer, then Simpson; 19 June 1896 – 24 April 1986), a divorced woman who seeks to divorce her second husband. British Prime Minister Stanley Baldwin advised Edward that, for political and religious reasons, he would not be able to remain king if he married Simpson, who was divorced from her first husband and divorcing her second and both are still living. He renounced his throne and chose to be with Mrs. Simpson and was succeeded by his younger brother Albert. after that he was created Duke of Windsor. He didn’t had any children. He was not expected to inherit the throne and spent his early life  in the shadow of his older brother, Edward. After his brother abdicated, he became the successor and took the regnal name George VI. Also, Within the 24 hours of his accession, the Irish parliament Oireachtas, passed the External Relations Act, which removes the power of the monarch in the Irish Free State. Three years after that, wars with the Nazi German started, another war with Italy and the Empire of Japan happened after two years. Even though Britain and it’s Allies won, the balance of world power shifted to the United States and the Soviet Union. the independence of India and Pakistan followed. George VI married Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon (Elizabeth Angela Marguerite Bowes-Lyon; 4 August 1900 – 30 March 2002) on 26 April 1923. Although Lady Elizabeth was a descendant of King Robert the Bruce (Robert I of Scotland) and King Henry VII of England, she was, according to British law, a commoner. They had two daughters:
  • Elizabeth II (Elizabeth Alexandra Mary, born 21 April 1926 – )
  • Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon (Margaret Rose; 21 August 1930 – 9 February 2002)
ELIZABETH II (Elizabeth Alexandra Mary, born 21 April – ) the constitutional monarch of sixteen independent sovereign states known as the Commonwealth realms: the United Kingdom, Canada, Australiagty_queen_elizabeth_royal_wedding_jp_110429_mn, New Zealand, Jamaica, Barbados, the Bahamas, Grenada, Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, Tuvalu, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Belize, Antigua and Barbuda, and Saint Kitts and Nevis. As Head of the Commonwealth, she is the figurehead of the 54-member Commonwealth of Nations; as the British monarch, she is the Supreme Governor of the Church of England. Elizabeth has held titles throughout her life, as a granddaughter of the monarch, as a daughter of the monarch, through her husband's titles, and eventually as Sovereign. In common parlance, she is The Queen or Her Majesty. Officially, she has a distinct title in each of her realms: Queen of Canada in Canada,Queen of Australia in Australia, etc. In the Channel Islands and Isle of Man, which are Crown dependencies rather than separate realms, she is known as Duke of Normandy and Lord of Man respectively. Additional styles include Defender of the Faith and Duke of Lancaster. When in conversation with the Queen, the practice is to initially address her as Your Majesty and thereafter as Ma'am.She is the current Queen of the United Kingdom. She was married to Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh (Prince Philip of Greece and Denmark; 10 June 1921) on 20 November 1947. They had four children:
  • Charles, Prince of Wales (Charles Philip Arthur George; 14 November 1948 – )
  • Anne, Princess Royal (Anne Elizabeth Alice Louise; 15 August 1950 – )
  • Prince Andrew, Duke of York (Andrew Albert Christian Edward; born 19 February 1960 – )
  • Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex (Edward Antony Richard Louis; born 10 March 1964 – )
Charles, dianacharlesPrince of Wales (Charles Philip Arthur George; 14 November 1948 – ) the heir apparent and the eldest son of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip. He married Lady Diana Spencer, Princess of Wales (Diana Frances Spencer; 1 July 1961 – 31 August 1997) on 29 July 1981 and ended in divorce on 28 August 1996 after she publicly accused Charles of having an affair with Camilla Parker Bowles. Princess Diana died on a car crash in Paris on 31 August 1997. after that, Charles married Camilla, Princess of Wales, Duchess of Cornwall (Camilla Rosemary; née Shand, previously Parker Bowles; born 17 July 1947) on 9 April 2005. Charles had two sons with Diana:
  • Prince William, Duke of Cambridge (William Arthur Philip Louis; born 21 June 1982 – )

Prince Harry and Prince William

Prince William, Duke of Cambridge is the second in the line of succession, behind his father, to the throne. He married his best friend and long-term girlfriend, just as his mother advised him, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge (Catherine "Kate" Elizabeth Middleton; born 9 January 1982) on 29 April 2011, at Westminster Abbey. Hours prior to his wedding Prince William was created Duke of Cambridge, Earl of Strathearn and Baron Carrickfergus. making Catherine Duchess of Cambridge, Countess of Strathearn and Baroness Carrickfergus through marriage. Just like his great grand father, he married a commoner. Catherine shares ancestors with her husband Prince William; the closest relationship is via William's mother through a common descent from Sir Thomas Fairfax and his wife Agnes Gascoine, making the couple fifteenth cousins. She is also related more distantly to William through her father's side through common descent from Sir William Gascoine and his wife Lady Margaret Percy. The couple are also possibly twelfth cousins once removed: circumstantial evidence with no sources suggests that they are both descended from Sir Thomas Leighton and Elizabeth Knollys

The famous first public kiss from the balcony of Buckingham Palace, or was this the second?
Have you noticed that they have long names but no surnames? here is why. Mountbatten-Windsor is the personal surnames of some of the descendants of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburg under an Order-in-Council issued in 1960. and as such a cadet branch of the House of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg, which in turn is a branch of the House of Oldenburg. It differs from the official name of the British Royal Family or Royal House, which remains Windsor. It only applies to the direct descendants of Queen Elizabeth II who are not holding Royal Styles and titles, but it has been applied to or informally used by members of the Royal Family descended from Queen Elizabeth II as their surname. and does not apply to the descendants of her late sister, Princess Margaret. Prince Philip adopted the surname Mountbatten from his British maternal grandparents in 1947. He married Elizabeth as Lieutenant Philip Mountbatten back then.
Here is a complete structure of the Windsor Family Tree.

Cosplay is an Art

a friend of mine asked me “do you consider COSPLAYING as an art?”, I said “yes I do consider cosplay as an art”. Then he replied “why? they are just bunch of people dressed up in some weird costumes walking around the mall right?”, so I replied “your abstract drawings made up of crooked lines and mixed up colors that looked like drawings of a toddler are weird too, you know?”.

so instead of arguing, I posted a poll question on facebook a week ago to ask people if they consider Cosplaying as an art. and the obvious answer arise.

poll

here are some replies I got. and my own comment on theirs.
“yes, because it’s not fuc***g bloody science.” ~Vidar Kang answered YES
minus the swearing, he’s right on that, although IMO it can still be a science because science is knowledge. you need knowledge to cosplay.
“no, it’s a hobby for me :3, tho I ♥ cosplay a lot it still is just for fun :333” ~ Jazmine Daphne Villegas answered NO
for some that I talked to personally, their reasons why they cosplay I that it’s their hobby. but IMO painters, sculptors, etc., started their artwork as a hobby as well.
“I consider this I dunno..” ~ Alvin Christopher RN answered I DUNNO
this is a common answer I got when asking people personally especially those who are not into cosplay, or doesn’t know what cosplay is.
“It requires a sense of aesthetics” ~ Aviva Domasian Answered YES
the nature of beauty, art and taste, and the appreciation of beauty is aesthetics. although I’m not sure about taste? do I have to lick it?
“It enhance our imagination and creativity :D”  ~ Rodel Malabag answered YES
“kase napoproduce mu ang creativity mu dito..” ~ Kiro Takudome answered YES
from the words of a non-cosplayer, you need to use your imagination and creativity when it comes to cosplaying, specially when creating those props and costumes to be used. translated as “your creativity is produced here”
“If cooking is an art, so is cosplaying” ~ Ralph Carlo Dimanalata answered YES
while cooking the dish is like making the costume and stuff, and the creative plating is like the presentation of the cosplayer.
“The word itself explains why, costume and roleplaying, is not an art in your perception?” Mikune Seki answered YES
don’t be mad at me, I’m just asking, roleplaying is a form of performance art.
“of course. cuz cosplaying isn't just dressing-up. you have to be the character itself. although it could be a hobby for those who love it and enjoys it” ~ Jel Lie answered YES
just like actors on films and movies who needs to be in character for the role, cosplayers also internalizes to be in character.
“it's a way of expressing oneself lolz” ~ Hoshizora Rin answered YES
"yes it is an art, because in cosplay, we're not just trying to imitate a character. But we also express what we feel and what we wanted. And that makes cosplay as an ART :)" ~ Buzz Panda answered YES

to express oneself by means of art whether it may be painting, pictures, singing or cosplaying.

alodia
alodia gosiengfiao said she makes her own costumes and props

As for my own answer to this question, YES I consider cosplaying as an art. From the answers I gathered above and from what I understand, Cosplay is a mash-up of Performing Arts where cosplayers act out the character they are portraying, from their gestures, facial expressions, how they talk, and being the character itself. And the craft and designs of the costumes and props are considered Applied Art, like the costumes that some cosplayers made, from their dress or armors to their accessories like wings, horns, kittybands, hellmets, and to their props like swords, guns, staff, wands, and even a bowl of rice. It is a way of interpreting oneself to others or a mode of expression that influences and affects one or more of the senses, emotions, and intellect

A cosplay event can also be considered as a gathering of various artist. if you have been into a cosplay convention, you will notice artist all over the place, from comic and manga artist or mangaka. photographers, to dancers, singers and actors on stage.

Girls Generation Cosplay @ 1st Philippine Kpop Convention

to date, I’ve only cosplayed two characters since 2008 and showed up int conventions in costumes only once, after dressing up, I’m already in character (I guess) from how I walk, stand or pose, I make it to the point that I’m in character.. but it’s hard though.

Chikusatk
Chikusa Kakimoto of Katekyo Hitman Reborn and TK of Angel Beats

!to the one who asked me the question “do you consider COSPLAYING as an art?”. it’s how a person will understand or appreciate the art form. like how I don’t appreciate abstract paintings but I consider it as an art. you can’t please everyone right?

And here are our newly found friends (who are also cosplaying Angel Beats! that time) that we met before we went home. We left before announcing the winner of the group cosplay competition because it’s getting late and we are almost 3 hours away from home.

It was tiring, yet fun, lots of people attended, and lot’s of memories to share. hope we can attend on the next event next month.

Initial D Arcade Stage 6 AA now in the Philippines

initiald6

Almost 3 weeks ago, IDAS4 cabs of Timezone Arena Trinoma where upgraded to the latest version of the series; The Initial D Arcade Stage 6 AA (reads as “Double Ace”). The ace refers to the Uphill Ace Keisuke Takahashi and Downhill Ace Takumi Fujiwara.

IDAS6AA features its new game mode, the Tag Battle. Here, 2 in-store players compete against another 2 players via online and consist of battles downhill and uphill just like Takumi and Keisuke did in the manga and the battle commence at the same time. But Philippines is not yet connected online, this mode Is not available as of now. Hope Sega include Php in their Asia-wide connection too.

New maps where also added, The Tsubaki Line and the return of Usui. New cars where also added to the flock; Nissan Fairlady Z Version S [Z33], Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X GSR [CZ4A] and Honda NSX [NA1].

I Tried the game my self and the game physics were really different from the previous versions. I hit a lot of walls and stuff but I manage to do a drift somewhere in the course. It was really fun… brings back the excitement I felt when I was with my team mates back in the old days.. I remember Wolf of Garou said from wapoowtf:
“…Despite the negativity sa mga pagkukulang ng game naenganyo ako sa new style of taking the corners. Gusto nila palawakin yung "drift" style. I started having fun like back in V3 days. May mga pitik, may feint, may mga full wheel lock. Ma-aksyon din yung new maps. Etong turn, brake drift, etong turn, power slide, etong turn brake, off gas. Possibilities are endless for now. Sa umpisa everybody will hit walls pero the smile on your face when you get a "perfect drift" and clear the apex, nakaka aliw.” ~ Wolf of Garou
Here are some shots I made when I was @ Trinoma
IDAS6AA is also available @ Robinsons Ermita

Happy April Fools! ~ Alodia Gosiengfiao

A few days ago, a video of Alodia Gosiengfiao appeared on her Facebook page saying that she will be quitting cosplay so that she could go back to school.. well guess what.. here she is in her school uniform.. Haruhi Style

Happy April Fools! by Alodia9

It was just a prank for April Fools Day, she announced that she’s not gonna quit cosplay. How could she quit cosplay? she loves it so much and it is the reason she is now known world wide as the Philippine Cosplay Goddess. It was a joke to promote her latest campaign for one of her favorite shows, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya 2 on Animax. To all her fans… Gotcha! It was a good prank.

Haruhi Suzumiya is based on the Haruhi Suzumiya series of light novels written by Nagaru Tanigawa and illustrated by Noizi Ito, centering on the title character Haruhi Suzumiya, a young high school girl, and her strange antics with her friends in a club she formed called the SOS Brigade, although it is told from the perspective of the male lead, Kyon in nonlinear narrative. It was re-aired on Japanese television featuring 28 episodes including the new 14 episodes sometimes referred as season 2. All episodes were aired in chronological order, resulting in the new episodes being mixed in with the old ones

The Premiere of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya 2 will be aired on Animax on April 6, 2011 @ 9:30 pm

I guess the rumors about the adaptation of Liveman are just rumors
