Stop Animal Abuse

I just opened my browser after a long while when i saw this pic on Facebook that was re-posted by Anya

According to the description of the photo:

The mother cat kept licking the kittens, hoping it would revive them. According to the family that adopted the stray cat, on the morning of the 11th when they heard the cat’s tragic cries, they rushed downstairs to discover this stray cat’s four kittens abused to death, and even placed in front of the mother cat. The kittens’ bodies were covered with bullet holes, with blood all over. One of the kittens had its neck tied with a rope and elongated, its chest cut open, heart exposed, while the other three kittens’ heads were stepped on. And apparently, i'm against animal abuse, i love cats, i have 4 cats in our house. From the day we start living in our current house, we had a cat as a pet or i would say part of the family. this cruelty to animals must be punished, if not by us then maybe we could ask GOD for help.

Animals have lives as well, although they say cats have nine of them, the picture above shows it's not really true. they are not toys to play with. They have feelings as well, they can be happy, agitated, irritated, hungry or in the mother cat above, sadness.

This cruelty leads me to thinking what could i do to stop this madness, maybe sharing this would be the first step.

Miku for Toyota, Kirino for Mazda

Kirino Kousaka of Ore no Imouto, as seen in this newspaper add, seems to be the one promoting the brand, just like Hatsune Miku for Toyota. although I’m not sure why they (Mazda) chose Kirino, or why they even tried copying what Toyota did, what I’m thinking now is will the other car manufacturers go with this trend? and will Mazda continue using Kirino as their model for U.S. market? I dunno..

Kirino is Kyosuke's 14-year-old younger sister. She is mature for her age with a cold, tsundere-like personality. She is secretly an otaku with an obsession for "little sister"-themed eroge, as well as the children's anime series, Stardust Witch Meruru. She works as a photoshoot model and later becomes a novelist, the funds from which she uses to support her hobby. Despite her interests, she states she does not know why she started liking it and denies having a brother complex, believing the 2D and 3D worlds should be kept separate. Nevertheless, she is shown to be very frustrated whenever Kyosuke is with or shows interest in other girls, such as Manami, who she accuses as being "all over" Kyosuke. Likewise, she frequently forces Kyosuke to spend time with her, whether it is playing games or taking her out, but denies that she actually enjoys the time they spend together. She goes as far as hitting him after he complains that she is ordering him around as if he was her boyfriend, and goes out of her way to sabotage his time with another girl. Globe-Swatch Tattooed in Time Cosplay Event

Swatch and Globe joined forces to bring this wonderful event. The Tattooed in Time Cosplay Competition. held at the activity center Trinoma Mall last Saturday, 4 June 2011.

The cosplay competition was divided into 3 categories, Best Male, Best Female, and Best Mecha.and the winners were judged by Mr. Rowell Santiago, Ms. Ashley Gosiengfiao, Mrs. Vergie Ramos of Swatch, and Mr. Dong Ronquillo of Globe.

Aside from the cosplay competition, a catwalk of models dressed up in Hiroyuki Matsuura’s New Swatch Collection were showcased, created by local designers, and the release of his New Swatch Collection.

5th TAGCOM 2011

 

TAGCOM is on it’s fifth event, I can still remember attending the previous “The Gathering” events. Toys and Hobbies Convention. I’m not sure what is the theme of the first day, but the second day was the K-Pop event thingy with a dance competition.



the event is also packed with booths selling toys and stuff

at the back of the stage, we found this, an RC Drift race, we were amazed how those cars drift like pro, it was fun watching the cars that Kean was tempted to buy one. stock car cost like 10,000Php.

Metro Comic Convention 2011

Metro Comic Convention is a gathering of Filipino comic book artist and graphic novels. Cosplays, animation, manga, toys and figurines, and movies are also showcased in the said event. It is a 2 day event that aims to let Pinoy fans come and meet our Filipino artist.

The event was held on May 7 – 8, 2011at the Mega Trade Hall at SM Megamall. I had the chance to attend the first day only, and my team mates where present also on the second day.

Lot’s of booths of comic artist where scattered around the place, I heard also that there will be a free comic for attendies but I don’t know how to get one or if it’s still applicable.

on the 2nd day, more cosplayers attended the event, I just wished I have attended also.

next MCC I’ll buy a comic for sure, although I’m not sure what kind of novel it will be. David Lloyd, the creator of V for Vendetta was also present as a guess although we didn’t see him in action, maybe when we are takning our break. that maybe the reason why the entrance fee became 120Ph instead of the usual 100Php.

overall the event was fun, hope to see more from MCC.

Hatsune Miku drives the New 2011 Toyota Corolla

Two days ago, Toyota released a video of their 2011 Toyota Corolla and their new endorser, Hatsune Miku.

It seems that the Vocaloid Fever just reached the shores of USA, well I’m not sure about that. Toyota USA had Hatsune Miku as their endorser. but what are they thinking? are the American residents aware of Miku’s presence? or do they know who she is? you have to be an anime fan or pretty much involved in the anime scene to know her.

I guess the company targets the younger generation for this ad, but it seems there aren’t that much Hatsune Miku fans in America as I know. and if this commercial is aired on US TV, many would be confused of who she is. but with internet being used world wide and Miku’s picture is appearing almost everywhere, the average Americans watching it would be like “hey who was that girl on the Toyota?” and they would actually search it on the net and I think that’s how the company sees it.

here is their FB page Toyota USA and the official site Corollamiku and as you would notice Miku’s face is very different, they pretty much Americanized her to cater their target customers but I’m not happy with that. also on the facebook page, you will notice the “Who is Miku Hatsune?” thingy on the bottom that explains only a few really know her on the state side.

now that the 2011 Toyota Corolla is Hatsune Miku’s official car, I’m an anime fan and a car guy so I really wish that the color palette would be like her outfit. then calling it Corolla Hatsune would be nice.

After yesterday’s Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate.. I mean Catherine Middleton, I was curious about the couple’s family tree.. the Royal Family Tree, so I made my own research and stuff and compiled it here.

Have you noticed that they have long names but no surnames? here is why. Mountbatten-Windsor is the personal surnames of some of the descendants of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburg under an Order-in-Council issued in 1960. and as such a cadet branch of the House of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg, which in turn is a branch of the House of Oldenburg. It differs from the official name of the British Royal Family or Royal House, which remains Windsor. It only applies to the direct descendants of Queen Elizabeth II who are not holding Royal Styles and titles, but it has been applied to or informally used by members of the Royal Family descended from Queen Elizabeth II as their surname. and does not apply to the descendants of her late sister, Princess Margaret. Cosplay is an Art

a friend of mine asked me “do you consider COSPLAYING as an art?”, I said “yes I do consider cosplay as an art”. Then he replied “why? they are just bunch of people dressed up in some weird costumes walking around the mall right?”, so I replied “your abstract drawings made up of crooked lines and mixed up colors that looked like drawings of a toddler are weird too, you know?”.

so instead of arguing, I posted a poll question on facebook a week ago to ask people if they consider Cosplaying as an art. and the obvious answer arise.

here are some replies I got. and my own comment on theirs.

“yes, because it’s not fuc***g bloody science.” ~Vidar Kang answered YES

minus the swearing, he’s right on that, although IMO it can still be a science because science is knowledge. you need knowledge to cosplay.

“no, it’s a hobby for me :3, tho I ♥ cosplay a lot it still is just for fun :333” ~ Jazmine Daphne Villegas answered NO

for some that I talked to personally, their reasons why they cosplay I that it’s their hobby. but IMO painters, sculptors, etc., started their artwork as a hobby as well.

this is a common answer I got when asking people personally especially those who are not into cosplay, or doesn’t know what cosplay is.

As for my own answer to this question, YES I consider cosplaying as an art. From the answers I gathered above and from what I understand, Cosplay is a mash-up of Performing Arts where cosplayers act out the character they are portraying, from their gestures, facial expressions, how they talk, and being the character itself. And the craft and designs of the costumes and props are considered Applied Art, like the costumes that some cosplayers made, from their dress or armors to their accessories like wings, horns, kittybands, hellmets, and to their props like swords, guns, staff, wands, and even a bowl of rice. It is a way of interpreting oneself to others or a mode of expression that influences and affects one or more of the senses,emotions, and intellect

A cosplay event can also be considered as a gathering of various artist. if you have been into a cosplay convention, you will notice artist all over the place, from comic and manga artist or mangaka. photographers, to dancers, singers and actors on stage.

to date, I’ve only cosplayed two characters since 2008 and showed up int conventions in costumes only once, after dressing up, I’m already in character (I guess) from how I walk, stand or pose, I make it to the point that I’m in character.. but it’s hard though.

^!to the one who asked me the question “do you consider COSPLAYING as an art?”. it’s how a person will understand or appreciate the art form. like how I don’t appreciate abstract paintings but I consider it as an art. you can’t please everyone right?
